Everyone’s favorite season, autumn, has arrived! It’s time to enjoy a glass of mulled wine, wrap yourself in a cozy sweater, and celebrate the seasonal harvest!
Have you ever wondered what makes the autumn season harvests so special though? The wonderful in-season plants, fruits, and vegetables that get extra attention this time of year all contain amazing nourishing properties that can soothe, renew, and hydrate aging, tired skin.
As the air gets colder and everyone starts storing for winter, you can stock up on all of the things that’ll keep your skin fresh and bright-looking all season long.
Here are some of our favorite autumn elements that we use and all of the items where you can find them.
This common root vegetable is rich with nourishing vitamins and minerals. Carrots are particularly rich in beta-carotene which brightens and lifts sallow, saggy skin.
We use carrot-extracted beta-carotene for our anti-aging masks while we use the mineral-rich carrot extract in our Men’s Care collection.
This winter squash is green on the outside, orange on the inside, and absolutely rich with energizing essentials. Vitamins B & C can bright the complexion while magnesium and potassium tighten skin.
We extract these vitamins, minerals, and some beta-carotene from this squash to use enrich masks and intense anti-aging serums.
Tip: You can grill and roast these as a side dish or bake them after you’ve filled the hallowed-out center with ground meats, rice, vegetables, or nuts for a tasty autumn main course.
This unique tree gets special attention in the autumn months for the stark shade of yellow that the leaves turn once the season changes. Ginkgo has become popular with our scientists for the amazing anti-aging qualities that it possesses. While it is known as a “living fossil” in the botany community, it is rather known by us for its ability to erase the appearance of line lines, wrinkles, age spots, and inflammation in skin.
The powers of this remarkable tree have been harnessed and used in our creams, serums, and masks to transform mature complexions.
We know you won’t believe that roses are an autumn staple, but bear with us.
Not only do roses look beautiful, but they can make skin look beautiful, too! Cold-pressed musk rose oil and rose hip kernel oil can astringe pores and wrinkles, reduce redness & inflammation, and restore skin’s natural balance.
Our musk rose oil comes from the Himalayan Musk Rose. A surprising abundance of North American roses, however, can be seen in flower shops late in the fall. As gardeners tend to their selection of rose bushes, they’ll prune their roses to prepare for a Valentine’s Day bloom. So if you want to surprise some family members when they come into town, you can dab on a new day cream before you rush out for a bouquet of flowers to greet them with!
